Adam Katz has been married to his wife Dana since 2001. They met in Club Med in Turks and Caicos on vacation with friends — and the rest is not only history, but it also directly and indirectly fueled a bunch of what’s in this book. Along the way, they had two amazing kids, who are now 20 and 16. Adam’s own career, entrepreneurship and parenting journey helped shape many elements of this book.
Adam spent the first 20 years of his professional life at Merrill Lynch, with two distinct careers. The first dozen years spanned a variety of leadership roles within investment product, sales and strategy. He spent the last eight years as a Private Wealth Advisor. He and his team left Merrill in 2018 to form their own independent wealth management firm called KORE Private Wealth, which they sold in just four years in 2022, to what is now CORIENT. Adam is currently a Partner and Head of the Entrepreneur and Founder Practice at CORIENT, one of largest and fastest growing wealth management firms in the world.
Fun fact: Adam was the 2009 176-lb. New York State Armwrestling Champion (Amateur Division)

What People are saying
“While I was not seeking any help on investing my money, unbe-knownst to me, I was seeking help on how to think about the purpose and role of money in my life. Adam’s mindset and constructs helped me and will help anyone reading this book!”
– Eli Broverman, Co-Founder of Betterment
“I’ve known Katz since Kindergarten and was not surprised when he set out to write a book, fulfilling his high school yearbook superlative of ‘Class Writer.’ He has always been smart, practical, warm, and looked at the world in a unique way. When I found myself in a dark place—adulthood with no financial savvy—I looked to him for guidance. I’m excited for people to have a chance to filter their financial life through his singular lens.”
– Jen Flanz, Executive Producer, The Daily Show
“Talk about glass half full—this guy’s cup is overflowing. I’ve known Adam for almost 15 years, and every time we get together, I’m genuinely excited to hear his new takes on so many aspects of life, and most importantly, living with focus and intentionality. Our conversations through the years have made a lasting impact on me.”
– Gabe Plotkin, Co-Chairman & Owner of the Charlotte Hornets
